The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes. (Proust)

Logistics: Meeting point is our office in Lidicka 8, 15000 Andel, Praha 5. We are based in a shop called Tribo. Normally we started our tours at 9.00 a.m but we can agree on another time if you wish to. The tour will end in the same place.

Petrin park:

First part of the tour is in Petrin Park which offers a wonderful view of Prague Castle  from above. We will gain the top after a tough  uphill between the trees of Kinskeho Zaharada park.   Once there you can enjoy the smell of roses coming from a lovely rose garden a few metres from the top. From here you can choose to climb a small imitation of the Eiffel Tower on the top of Petrin and enjoy a 360-degree view of Prague.

m

Hvezda and Ladronka parks:

After Petrin we will reach  Hvezda castle, located in a  huge park close to another park for athletes called Ladronka. We visit both of them. Hvezda Castle, was built in the form of a six-pointed star (“hvězda” means “a star” in Czech) in 1555 by Ferdinand of Tyrol and was decorated by Italian artists. In Hvezda you will also be introduced to “The tree”!

Divoka Sarka park:

We will leave the star shaped castle of hvezda and we will enter the vast and wild nature reserve of Divoka Sarka, located between the centre of the capital and the main airport. In the reserve our path is lined by tall pine trees and follows the river of the same name. The area’s name means “wild Sarka” and refers to a mythic female warrior whose story is one of many mythological legends connected to the city of Prague.

m

Stromovka park:

Having left the V Šareckem valley we will go toward the center of Prague  cycling toward the bank of the Vltava River that we will follow for a while. We will cross the river and once on the other side it’s just a short distance to Stromovka Park through Prague‘s ZOO, the Botanical Garden and Troja Castle. Stromovka whose name originates from the word “strom”, a tree in Czech, was once a hunting estate of the king. Today it is the biggest urban park in the capital.

m

Letna Park:

From Stromovka we cycle to Letna Park where we can enjoy a beautiful view of the historical centre, from the spot where once stood Europe’s greatest statue of the Russian dictator Stalin. Letna Park is famous for hosting one of the biggest demonstrations against the Communist regime in 1989. It’s also famous for the oldest carousel in Europe and because Michael Jackson began his famous 1996 History tour here, holding a concert with 127,000 people. After Letna we will climb once back Petrin, our first park of the day, and from the there a last downhill will bring us at the end of our tour.
