Czech Paradise Hiking

Enjoy hiking in a breathtaking natural playground

A hike in “the rock city” of the Czech paradise (Cesky Raj in Czech), a Unesco world heritage site 100 km from Prague.

We picked the Czech Paradise among all the nice rock areas we have in the CR, like for example Czech Switzerland or Aderspach, because it is as beautiful as the other places but less crowded (it is mainly visited by locals) and close enough to Prague to make it a nice day trip with no too much driving.

The characteristic element of the Bohemian Paradise are beautiful castles and sandstone rock pillars.

Many of them have been shaped by wind, water, frost, erosion, and people into unique and curious shapes in many cases.

We will walk around, under and over many of the 365 sandstone pillars. We will discover rock gates, niches, caves and cavities, balancing boulders and rock mushrooms.

We will walk through  “Lord of the Rings” like forests.

A hike full of fun due to the uniqueness and peculiarity of the trek.

Tour highlights

We will leave Prague and reach the Czech Paradise in about 80 minutes. Once there we will start our hike that will bring us around the national park. We will enjoy the playful features of the trail going under, over and around the many many sandstone pillars. We will reach several lookouts from where we will fully enjoy the view of the unique landscape. Half way we can eat some traditional Czech food in a typical restaurant based in one of the info centers (from May to October). You don’t need any particular skill to do the hiking, just to be a bit fit as there are several up and downs.

We are sure you will never forget this incredible place so close to Prague!

And if you didn’t have enough…
according to the season we can go after the tour in one of the 3 following destinations:

The beautiful town of Jicin (8,5 Km from the Czech Paradise, 15 minutes by car)

A well-preserved historical center, built around a rectangular square with a regular Gothic street layout, remnants of fortifications and arcade Renaissance and Baroque houses. More info about the city here.

The mysterious castle of Trosky (13 km from the Czech Paradise, 18 minutes by car).

Trosky ruins is a majestic dominant of Český ráj. Rich history of Trosky is full of empty spaces, unbelievable stories and legends. For a short while people were afraid of Trosky very much, because famous robbers Kryštov and Švejkar used the castle as their base.

Admission fee of 60 CZK not included in the price of the tour.

Opening hours: April and October only Saturday and Sunday. From May to September open everyday.

Oborsky lake (3,5 km from the Czech Paradise, 5 minutes by car)

A great summer time idea is to jump in the clean water of a nice lake few minutes from the national park and wash away the sweat of the hiking. After this you will go back to Prague refreshed, tired and happy!

Experience

BIKO has already 8 successful years behind and it is run by Filippo who, before fouding BIKO, worked more than 12 years as a marketing an event manager in big corporations.

Proven track record

We won the Trip Advisor certificate of excellence for 7 years in a row. More than 98 percent of our reviews on Trip Advisor, Facebook and Google are 5 stars. The other are 4 stars.

Professionality

In BIKO we use top bicycles. We fairly pay our guides and as a result we attract professional guides that speak fluent English, are well trained and they attend first aid courses.

Uniqueness

Our tours are rigorously off-the-beaten-path and as we run small groups, the places we go to, stay pristine. We are the first outdoor company in Prague and we continue to innovate year after year.

“The hiking was fantastic, the weather was cold but bright, the routes well signposted and paths well maintained. As described on the Biko web site, the rock formations and mysterious valleys are magical and well worth a visit.”
Graeme from UKTrip Advisor
“This was even better than we had expected. The Czech Paradise is a magical place and definitely a highlight of our trip.”
I would definitely recommend this company and would love to do other tours with them if I go back to Prague!”
Ann from USATrip Advisor
